I saw this driving around with a for sale sign recently.
I see from the ad that he is close to me if anyone needs it inspected.

I guess buyers are getting pretty desperate for an early car if they are willing to pay this amount for such a bastardised car with plenty of work left to get it back to original. doesnt even say what engine is in it.

There is so much work in that car. Best to leave it as it is really.

            It's an 2.4 mfi 911T .... only done in 1972.

It was 140hp as opposed to the 130hp carburetted T.

A few in the US but less than 10 came into Australia from memory.

If its indeed a real T/E, then its most probably a US delivered car. I have had 2 US delivered 911 T/E's, one being a 72 T/E. These all had MFI pumps which I believe were fitted by Porsche to comply with California emissions requirements at the time. So it may well be a conversion hidden underneath the 930 body.

However, if it listed with a 2/7 motor then its likely a K Jetronic car making it even less desirable. Pity the poor buyer if they go for this car hoping to convert back to a std 72.

My understanding but could easily be wrong is that 911T/E is a reference to a 911T that is an E series car. 1969 is a B series, 70 is C, 71 is D, 72 is E and 73 is F. Not sure what A series covers.

I beleive the "E" part of the model designator is for Einspitzen being "Injection" as these cars needed an MFI pump to achieve emission requirements. They probably kept the "T" designator in the model name to differentiate them from the 911E model but still keep is as a "Touring" T model. AFAIK the T/E models were only for the USA and possibly just California ? Both of my T/E cars came from California.

Could be a reference to E series. But 'E' also = Einspritzung = injection. if thats what he or she meant....

Phil is right - but they 100% made Australian delivered ones - I nearly bought one a couple years ago - it was matching numbers Australian delivered 1972 T/E - it was a T designation with Einspritzung - not an E or a carburetted T.

I'll believe it when Hugh confirms your stats Mr Sporto
