    68S at Autohaus

    Hi All
Any history/info on the yellow 911R racer 68S at Autohaus? Looks like a fun car... A mate is pondering....
    Cheers Tom

It looks odd in the rear wheel arches to me. The rear wheels look too far forward ( not central in the arch ). Why would that be?

my guess is that it is a 67S (or at least that is what the vin says even if the advertising copy says 68 that car was completed in late November 66 ) and thus SWB but it looks as if it has had LWB rear panels grafted onto it hence the wheels not lining up in the center of the arches

probably a lot more valuable as a proper 67S although the engine and a lot of other stuff is now missing

I know the car quite well......from my time in Sydney

The current owner bought it around 20 years ago.... he built it up into an R replica based on the yellow one that was found in France in a lockup...

Its a very well developed club car, and it was built up at a time when swb cars were cheap.

Autohaus do good work, and the current owner is quite meticulous....

What Hugh says is correct...... it would be more valuable with matching bits on it.

If your friend wants a well developed, fun, raucous swb car then he should look further at it...

Could it also be the rear control arms being too short ?

its fairly well developed..... a lot of money has been spent on the car over the years.... its been quite competitive in rallies and PCNSW supersprints...

Yeah seems like it has... My mate missed out. The rear quarters wreaked havoc with the mojo.

They were really bad, I wonder if the purchaser knows where the orignal motor is and it'll be returned to more original spec ?
