How do you know its still a 2.4 engine in the car ? Just because it has a green engine shroud doesnt necessarily mean its an E motor. A lot more detailed inspection on this would be required before I would bid on it and being located in Sunshine, VIC, trying to get to view it in the current lockdown would be impossible.

I find it odd listing a car like this at a time like this... to your point Phil, I doubt many would buy this sight unseen - I wouldn't for sure. If it's a car with pedigree and well known there's less of an issue (although you really never know..). For the record I don't mind the colour.

I like it. Perfect candidate for a hot rod and I would happily buy sight unseen if the price was right

So what would you consider was the "right price" for this particular car to make it of interest ? I looked at it as a possibility because I have had 2 Targas already (both 72) and I know what sort of money is required to fix them and I already passed on this one even at the price I saw it first listed.

I agree with Pocketscience that its a bad time to be listing such a car for auction virtually sight unseen with lockdowns in place. But time will tell so lets see what happens next week.

If I hadn’t just bought the yellow targa I would happily bid up to 70k sight unseen, that leaves room to fix a few problems. I like the idea of a 3.2, if that’s what’s in it.

I also agree with the comments regarding trying to sell via auction right now

Worth every cent for that air con that is held together by duct tape up front!!!

5 hrs to go and bidding at $58,000 plus 5.5% buyers commission.
And I agree with you Clyde about the dodgy looking A/C ducting and box in the trunk area. Never seen any AC parts located in this area. Normally there can be a condenser fitted in the floor pan just behind the front bumper and in front of the spare wheel with a cutout to allow fresh air in.

I don't know any specs, only what I can see. The pully, fan housing and shroud all look 2.4E. It's not running a distributor. Looks like a parts bin engine, anything's possible, including it being a corker.

The induction and ignition systems would need a bit more explanation as there are some serious mods on this motor making me doubt its a 2.4 underneath.

They are coming out of the woodwork to bid on this. Last bid is from Winnellie, a Darwin suburb in the NT

Now there's a ticket to a world of pain. I hope no one here buys it!

                            $200,000 away from being a $100,000 car.
