    Wanted to Buy 968 Clubsport

    Hi Guys

It looks like the car I was trying to buy has either been sold or withdrawn. Not sure as the owner is now incommunicado......

So as per the ad I'm after a 968CS

Air conditioning is a must have. I have a preference for a red car but will consider anything. Not so keen on black though!

2 seater and 2+2 cars considered.

Race prepped cars considered. MO30 desirable but not essential. 220 (LSD) the same.

If you know of anything please PM or my mobile is 0448882399. This number will change in a couple of weeks but I will update the ad when it happens.

That car really looked good, still don't know why it took so long to sell?

Thanks Phil - I now have a lead on one that sounds like it might tick a few boxes. Hopefully getting it checked out tomorrow.

I think Stews old car started off at $86K and then was dropped a while ago to $79. I'm not aware of anything selling with an 8 in front of it. He made contact last night to say he has withdrawn it from sale. I think he'd hoped to recoup everything he had in it and the interest he'd received hadn't supported that number.

I think the biggest money for these cars is in the 14 Oz delivered with the MO30 option. The 2+2 spec cars are probably also viewed a little less favorably.

The early 90's werent good times for Porsche sales hence the low numbers in not only this model.

Combination of recession and high tariffs didn't help either. Wasn't the MO30 option just for the Group E racing at the time, which was a bit of a hit and miss series?

I think you could order MO30 on any 968, clubsport or standard. The Melbourne car I had inspected was a 2+2 that was ordered with MO30 - I gather the only Oz delivered 968CS optioned this way. Unfortunately the PPI I had done was not particularly good so I'm still looking. There is another car In Melbourne that I'm hoping to get some info on shortly but I'm open to any other leads ;-)

                        Hi Cam

For the uninitiated (me) what's the MO30 option?

Assume you have seen this: http://www.my105.com/mobi/ListingDet...rsche/id/18525

                        Cheers

Thanks Adam - I gather that one is now sold but not a CS and apparently had some issues. The MO 30 option was basically bigger brakes, cross drilled disks and stiffer springs and sways.

If a Clubsport doesn't have MO 30 how does it differ from a standard 968?

Lots of deletions to save weight....manual windows, no central locking, manual rear hatch release, different door cards, fewer engine plastic trims, lightweight fibreglass seats, no rear seats, no sunroof, no rear window wiper, 20mm lower ride height, manually adjusted mirrors, no airbags, no alarm, lighter wiring loom, reduction of sound insulation, manual climate control, no headlight washer jets, no under bonnet or boot light, digital stop watch instead of exterior temperature display in dash, no clock in dash, simplified centre console, colour coded rear spoiler, 17 inch rims instead of 16's etc etc.

There were also a lot of things like a/c, smaller alternator, smaller capacity battery, no radio that were options that generally got added back on except if the car was to be used purely for racing.
