    FS: Engine Lid

For Sale is the engine lid from my 68. This is an original Porsche replacement part to suit a 5-bar grill, so 1970 onwards. The engine lid is rust free and straight. The part number stamped between the licence plate lights is: 91151290301. I thought this engine lid may be from a G series but it does have the twin licence plate light cutouts. $800+ shipping

    Hi Peter,
the lid is a later G series lid as it has the curve in the lhs underside frame that the later cars after 74my had for the rear wiper motor placement. Still works fine on early cars.

Thanks Chris. Did the G series have two license plate lights or a single light?

No lights, they are on the bumper, the plate light holes on your lid have been cut out to take the early style.

Looks factory to me, these cutouts are perfect. From what i have researched these engine lids where available for earlier cars.

Here's an early G lid that took years to find for the Carrera, it came with a rerpo ducktail but was delivered with flat lid from factory. See straight frame. Btw the center support with the spot wellded cross bar in the middle is also a give away for later g series lid.
            Maybe superseded porsche part?

There was a cross-over period for sure. I've got a lid sourced from G series, but it has factory cut outs for the early numberplate lights complemented by factory blanking plates for those same holes

Thanks for the info John, seems that nothing is standard on these cars during a crossover period.
