    912 Generator

I have a 1965 Aus delivered 912. The engine is a 1966 out of a USA delivered car. I would like to get the generator overhauled. Can anyone recommend where I could get this done in Sydney?
A pic of the generator is attached. The pulley nut is different to what you usually see on 912s and 356s. Any ideas why this might be?

PS: I wonder what happened to the original engine (serial No. 740460). I would like to find it, or at least the part with the serial number on it, to get back to matching numbers.

The 912BBS is a wealth of knowledge Geoff.

Regarding the third piece you mention, 356 912 unstamped third pieces are readily available and there is a Euro company offering a restamping
service, won't fool any experts because the case halves have lots of tell tales as to year of casting etc.

That pulley nut looks wrong. Should be https://www.aasesales.com/products/f2f-c108-14u-108319 VW? There are aways places in the major cities who can rebuild generators at a price. Check with a company that does classic VW starters and generators. You can even buy kits and do it yourself http://www.ebay.com/itm/Porsche-356-...tUGLE4&vxp=mtr

Alternatively you can buy an alternator that is 'cloaked' as a generator.

Thanks Merv and 9er for your responses. It does look like a VW generator. I'll get the correct Porsche nut and see if that fits.
