Justin, are you replacing it with anything ?

I just bought a 2012 BMW 1M (on recommendation of Jason Carroll). Am just happy to drive it anywhere and its fast and handles superbly. I cant bring myself to take out the 911E and risk damage/paint chips/etc anymore. I know there are several other TYP901'ers also hooked on M cars.

Yes Phil I will.... Porsches are in the blood...

      But one out, one in.

I have heard and read many good things about 1M's.... but my daily 2013 Golf GTI is more than good (and fast) enough for me.

My wife has a 135i Twin Turbo .

Her 50th birthday present, I just hate its electronic traction controlled diff, nearly killed me 3 times looking at Mack Truck grilles, with Bulldog while sitting on an uphill right,or left intersection with the traction preventing process , so I have to flick the button to take it to no aids.

Needless to say I am no longer allowed to drive it , thank christ !!

An M2 Comp would be the best bet, but only with the mechanical LSD and PDK and getting cheaper by the day.

The 135i is a nice alternative but the 1M gets all the goodies off the M3 including LSD diff, all suspension and brakes plus a number of settings for stability and traction control - but you can turn them all off and go drifting (see Chris Harris Youtube video). The 9 & 10 in wheels also help the appearance and give it the "skunkworks" look the BMW engineers were after.

Sean you should have bought the 1M, it will beat the GTI and even the Golf R plus for about US$695 you can easily re-tune it via the OBD2 port and get it up close to 500HP. I am happy with the currently available power which is enhanced about 25HP by hitting the M button on the steering wheel. Plenty of power for me to give a great driving experience.
There is a whole industry in the USA dedicated to tuning these M cars and extracting huge performance from the turbo inline 3.0 litre 6.

Chris, there is not a lot of choice of colours - only 3. Mine is alpine white as I dont like black cars and the Valencia Orange is a bit too "look at me". I looked on carsales over the weekend and there are cars available in all 3 colours., but prices vary a lot with mileage being the main factor. Mine had 120,000 kms on it but checked out OK on inspection. Am just frustrated at present because I cant take it out for a run anywhere interesting.

I advertised here, Early S and PFA only.

I will speak with new owner to confirm, but believe it sold as a result of the PFA post. He called me within about 4 hours of posting, and inspected the car the next day...

Much faster and easier than I thought.

I see that Jeff seems to have sold his aubergine 2.4T in Sydney as well?

Congratulations and commiserations in the one breath Justin- the new owner certainly has one of the best SWB 911's in Australia and I presume he'll join the club (if not already a member)
                          Is it staying in Victoria?

Congratulations on the sale, well known, important and rare SWB of this standard rarely come to market. The Aubergine 2.4 I have taken off the market.
