    70T on carsales

    no affilliation!

    $75,990

This is my personal car and was the subject of a ground up, nut and bolt rebuild in 1987. Australian delivered.

All new genuine Porsche parts were used, inside and out. This included all new trims, new rubbers, contemporary new dash and instruments, carpets and headlining.

A new 2.7 engine was completely built, the gearbox was rebuilt and RSR front suspension and Koni adjustable shocks were chosen.

Additionally, a new oil tank and anti-surge fuel tank were fitted. The interior was completely re-upholstered with genuine materials, while a Stratos drivers seat was added. The genuine drivers seat is also available (as new).

New for '87 front and rear spoilers, electric mirrors, rear parcel shelf, etc, were also used. The car has only travelled 20,800km since completed in 1987, and has literally never been out in the rain. The total build cost at the time was $89,060.99, plus 9 months labour. As all parts were genuine from Porsche, all receipts were dot-matrix printed and are available for inspection.

NO email or text please. Phone calls only.

    George.

I'm sure we all did things in the 80s that we would like to go back in time and change

I was just thinking if he had spent that much money on restoring the car to original specs he might have some vague hope of achieving what he wants for it.......

Bit of a shame really, it looks well cared for. Perhaps he was misguided in the direction he took. In the wrong part of the market for that money, though.

He just did what a lot of others did in 1987 except it seems like he did it better than most

It would seem it will be a real struggle to get anywhere near the asking money given the current cost of backdating it to a 70T and even after the backdate he might struggle in this market.

It would make a good base for an RS replica provided you like the colour, most of the driveline work looks done. If the paint is good and the body rust free, it shouldn't cost a fortune to backdate, get rid of the electric mirrors, stereo etc and strip the interior and fit some repro seats.
