Many will have seen the news reports of the evacuation of 570 Bourke St and adjoining buildings in Melbourne today due to an explosion/fire in a basement sub-station.
That's my work building , but you'll all (well hopefully most) be pleased to learn that I escaped unscathed - although the lower sections of the escape stairwells were full of really acrid smoke. I understand about 40 people were treated at the scene and 6 were taken to hospital.
Unfortunately my personal belongings - phone, car keys and cut lunch - are still in my office as we were unable to re-enter the building - and may not be able to enter for a few days.
signing off for now,
