Would like to see what their owner retention looks like.
Good luck to them for turning the market on its head, but do Tesla buyers come back an buy another one?
Or are they now looking elsewhere? Taycan / F pace? etc etc.
Im just wondering if the growth presents problems similar to what Chrysler Jeep had in Australia over the last few years? Is sales increase drastically, but the customer experience suffers.
A jeep dealer once said to me - I used to sell plenty of them .... but only once! The customers never /rarely came back.

“Tesla Is J.D. Power’s Top Car for Appeal After Finishing Last in Quality”
it’s the whole Tesla love/hate thing. People who will never buy one say they’re ****. People who buy them love them.
quality stuff is all fit and finish, the engineering and tech and experience is next level. If buyers want a beautifully finished overpriced EV with **** engineering they get an EQC. Don’t seem to be many of those buyers because Merc barely selling any. Wheels COTY says it all. An EV for old white men who hate EVs, built by old white men who hate EVs.
Taycan is a beautifully built Model S at twice the price that probably isn’t as good as Model S.

Interestingly and relevant here - Tesla has knocked Porsche off the top of the JD Power “owners love them” list. Porsche has topped the study 15 of the past 16 years.
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www....-jd-power.html
Worth noting that first time JD Power included Tesla and unofficially, Tesla doesn’t formally participate. JD Power “quality” is based on issues per 100 cars reported in the first 90 days (PP):
Top 5:- Dodge (136 PP100)
- Kia (136 PP100)
- Chevrolet (141 PP100)
- Ram (141 PP100)
- Genesis (142 PP100)
- Porsche (185 PP100)
- Subaru (187 PP100)
- Chrysler (189)
- Jaguar (190)
- Mercedes-Benz (202 PP100)
- Volvo (210 PP100)
- Audi (225 PP100)
- Land Rover (228 PP100)
- Tesla (250 PP100)
“Tesla Owners love em” consistent with other reports like Bloomberg and Consumer Reports: “ Tesla's Model 3 ranked 'most satisfying' car, more than Porsche or Corvette”.
https://www.google.com.au/amp/s/www....fying-car.html
Jag sold about 17,500 ipace last year, Porsche sold 4,500 Taycan in first half of 2020. Tesla sold just under 23,000 S and X in the first half of 2020 (and about 155,000 Model3/Y). Porsche sold total 117,000 cars in first half 2020, down 12% on 2019.
Tesla sold 365,000 EV last year and still saying will sell 500,000 this year with COVID. Reportedly hold 650,000 “deposits” for super weird looking, origami-with-stainless steel exo-skeleton “Cybertruck”. Interesting times.Last edited by Bremith; 26-07-20, 05:38 AM.

A bit old, but directly relevant:
”Tesla owners show an even higher make loyalty rate than EV customers as a whole. More than 4 in 5 Tesla customers — 80.5 percent – buy or lease another Tesla when they return to market. Tesla has the highest level of make loyalty in the industry, ahead of Subaru at 72.1 percent and Ford at 72 percent.”
