for the money, i'd be more inclined for this one though (the one above would carry a large amount of guilt if you wanted to actually ride it!):

I don't have a motorbike licence, so maybe I'm the right person to buy the NOS

Tell her you won it in a poker game.

If you claim it as a winning in a poker game the question inevitably becomes 'what bet did you in turn gamble, and what if you lost, and what else have you gambled'..etc..

          Picture this...
"darling I'm storing this for $10 per week for a friend", then after 6 months the owner disappears, not contactable, or pick a name out of the death notices and say it was him, and the executor of the estate never contacts you to claim the bike, so you register it in your name, sweet.. All this can unravel of course if you're married to family or equity/trust lawyer. Or she pressures you to sell it for a fancy SUV/holiday in France. Lessons learned.

I bought a Honda VTR and tucked it away at work, then bought my wife a scooter for her birthday. She loved it and a couple of months later I finally unveiled my "new" bike.

Her only response "so how long have you been hiding that?"

yeah, unfortunately Mark is probably closest to the truth. The other side to the 'one porsche per child' deal was no more bikes.

deal aside, i still haven't worked out how to fund the second porsche!!

Send your wife to NYC shopping... that's how I got my extra two

My boss has offered to authorise (free) parking of a motorcycle in my government building... Awfully tempting as an alternative to sharing public transport with the great unwashed masses But I think my wife would have a conniption if she found out I was riding again...

yeah, but history shows that banks don't take lightly to employees resolving their own personal financial issues using the banks money!

unless they are charging interest of course!!

                      Hey Rich,

                      NOS or not NOS.

I mean no disrespect, but for that kind of money I buy a used Black Shadow over that over hyped Italian piece of crap anyday.....

And whats that talk about deals with the missus?

Just tell her going to the shrink for the rest of your life is going to be more expensive and the kids can't sell the estate (the cars and bikes are investments after all, not toys)

If you can buy a NOS Black Shadow for $59k, let me know where they're at - I'll buy 5!

And clearly you have never ridden a 900ss...

And no, I haven't. But I have some Yankee scrap metal to thump around on:
