Victorian Club Drive Sunday April 26th

The next scheduled drive will be held on Sunday April 26th.

Following the success of the previous run this will follow a similar format drive from 8am until about 10.30am followed by breakfast/brunch and then those who are time poor can depart others can continue on for a while longer.

Meeting point will be the Main Street in Lancefield, heading to Pyalong, Seymour and eventually Ruffy General store for breakfast/brunch approx 2 hrs driving time with a stop in Seymour for 20 mins or so.

Some excellent driving roads included.

Hi all,
Just thought I would share a new app that we have been using called Zello. It is an app that uses your mobile phone to basically work like a CB or 2-way radio but using 4G.
We have used very successfully in the last 2 events for Group S at Bathurst and Phillip Island.
Basically all you need to do is download the app on either the App Store or Google Store, and then create an account. It is quite easy and simple to do so.
From there a channel could be made for the run group. I am happy to do it.
Users join than group and then can tour leader can then provide instructions, or people can call out if they have a problem, traffic approaching etc. It almost instantaneously sends the message in real time.
Happy to help set it up (there is no cost) and trial it for the next run. It certainly improves safety.
The other thing is that it automatically plays over your speaker phone so no need for headphones, but it does work with headphones too!

Okay so it took all of 2 minutes to set up the channel. Go to zello.com/typ901 and it will take you to the channel to join. Just click ADD in the top right to join the channel/group.

Have you signed up on your phone first Clyde?
Perhaps login on your phone, and then search for CHANNEL called TYP901 run group 26.04.2020
You should then see it

I had the app on my phone, did what you said and searched for the Channel and now I think I am in

Yes- it took me a few goes, go back and forth, as well...

Its saying there are now 3 connected.

Yep the three of us! So now all you do it press the button like a push to talk and it broadcasts to those that have subscribed to that channel. There are some setting that you might need to adjust so that it plays automatically but beware that it plays over speaker phone. Funniest one was one of the guys who had his phone hooked up to play music in his office a few weeks back and all of a sudden he had my voice booming over the system!

The other problem is when you all stop, just hang in pairs !

I think it best we cancel the run after all Mr Upwey is old and fits the "in danger category" and without his secretarial skills we would be stuffed.
