    New member Intro

    Hi All,

I am new to the forum.

Bit of background. Currently living in London but originally from Melbourne.
I own an Australian delivered 1970 911E. The car was imported into the UK in 2016 (not by me) and is currently undergoing a bare metal restoration at Rindt Vehicle Design here in the UK. My plan is to bring the car back home with me when we return to Australia .
The car is far from original and not a matching numbers. The previous owner in Australia painted the car white, swapped out the engine for a 3.2, and turned the car into an RS Replica with red decals in the early 2000's.
Given its too far gone from the original E, ive decided to keep the flared arches and duck tail but have painted the car back in its original Signal Orange. The interior is also having a complete overhaul with period correct leather, vinyl and pepita seat inserts.
Engine wise, the 3.2 is now gone and a 2.7l with a number of mods mainly bore to 2.8l, 92mm pistons and weber 40IDA carbs is now in the car.

A few pics of the car in its current state. Hope to have it back on the road for the last of the summer/autumn weather here in the UK before it goes into dry storage for the winter.

Special shout out and thank you to Peter Williams who i met during my recent trip back home. Thanks for dropping off the welcome pack Pete!

    Cheers,

    DJ

No worries Dim, it was a pleasure to meet you....and I'm very envious of your lovely property at Flinders...we'll have a game of golf upon your return.
Keep us up to date with your resto with plenty of photos. ....as we often say, "You've now fallen onto the slippery slope"

              Thanks for the welcome all.

Very possible that you may have read about the car elsewhere, however not from me. Going by window sticker previous owner/s were PCV and PCNSW members.
The car did originally come with a sunroof but was very poorly pathced over at some stage (essentially welded in place with a mountain of filler). Thats all been corrected now as part of the resto.

Some pics of the car just before it was stripped down. Visually it seemed in perfectly good knick with only some minor rust spots. Little did i know what i was in for once it was stripped down. On the flip side its now in flawless condition and its all getting done at once.

Going to see the car tomorrow for first time in a couple of months and will post some update pics.

              Cheers.

Went to visit team at Rindt today. Paint and polish complete, and wheels refurbished. Car will be moved to assembly this week. Rindt do all bodywork, paint, retrimming and engine work inhouse. Really happy with the attention to detail and workmanship.

New seats arrived. Ive gone with the BF Torino LeMans. Also having some door pockets made for the RS door cards.

Bit of an update. Progress but still a while off being back on the road. Will not make the last of the autumn before the dreaded salt starts hitting the roads here in the UK so not rushing given its taken this long now.

Also still deciding what to do on the exhaust front. The SSI/Cairns muffler is still in place.

Was umming and ahing on paint between Bahama Yellow (which i still really like) and other oranges, but glad I stuck with the originl Signal Orange in the end.

9 months later and finally picked up car. Really happy with it.

Weather still not great here in the UK so unfortunately back in storage for the remainder of the winter. Few pics of the courttard at Rindt with some nice LWB 911 and 912s.
