    CDI and Speed transducer repairs

Thought I would share a good experience I had with a USA vendor, Bob Ashlock, who is well known for his repairs to CDI units and also for those with MFI, the speed transducers, both of which after 50 years are prone to failure.

I sent Bob a CDi box it was repaired and back in my hands inside 3 weeks from me visiting the post office, awesome turnaround time. I have now sent him the speed transducer too.

He offers 2 repairs to CDI boxes, back to factory normal or his propriety upgrade giving higher spark at higher revs than the factory units, I opted for the 2nd and including postage both ways and exchange rates cost me a touch over $800 AUD but now have a great unit I will swap into one of the 73E cars and have the all important working spare now too.

Got my transducer back already was in pretty good shape actually except for one crack in a weld which Bob indicated was causing intermittant fault issues.

All repaired, tested, cleaned and future water protection coated. $139 USD plus $22 to ship to him.

I never really understood the importance of this part, and the fuel shut off solenoid on the pump until a few years back if these are not working properly, along with the cut off switch controlled by the accelerator shaft you will never eliminate backfiring/popping from the exhaust in an MFI 69-75 car, let alone get any sort of decent fuel economy without starving the engine of fuel.

You will always have too much fuel after backing off and whammo!!!
