Hi guys, been a I am looking for the original engine out of my 69T. I have owned the car since 20th June 2017 and plan to keep it forever. Being an ex Ron Angus car means it is pretty special to me, and along with that, it is a wonderful example of a very early long-wheelbase 911.
This is the story as best as I could research it some time ago looking for the engine in question
The original engine is no. 6193111
Many years ago a guy called Rob owned a 69S and bought my 911T less engine from a Porsche trained mechanic who’s name I believe was Reg Mort or a name similar. Rob bought the T as the S was rusty and transferred the S motor into it. The story doesn't end there but safe to say the S now has it's original engine and my T has an early 911L engine which was rebuilt not long before I bought it.
The reason the T was sold without engine was - it had blown and was removed by Reg Mort. Apparently some years later Reg Mort was in some sort of financial difficulty and the engine and other stuff were sold to raise funds.
All this is likely to have occurred maybe 30 years ago, so the where-about of the engine now could be anywhere, including in another car.
The 69T was repainted by Zags in my ownership, the original grey-white paint has been replaced by period silver by them. Zags have done a magnificent job with the car as they always do.
I would dearly love to find the engine with a view to purchase it if it was available, and any help in locating it would be very much appreciated.
