I survived the last round of redundancies, so what better than to buy more car parts.
I'd love to stimulate our own economy, but unfortunately the majority of parts I need need to come from Europe or the US.
Anyway, the Ddelivery from Elephant Racing arrived yesterday, and although I don't know if things will fit and are the best compromise for a street car, they do look awesome.
The works RSRs had the front spindle raised by 26mm and most people indicate you'd need at least 16" wheels for that, but I figured to best do everything as per the factory RSR (susension, wheels & offsets, hubs, brakes, etc) and I should be OK.
Great support from the guys at Elephnt, and because I kept the torsion bars as per the original works car (19mm front & 26mm rear), we had to re-valve the Bilstein shocks and match the selected springs. The idea is to get a fairly decent ride on the road, as that's where I will drive it most. That's also why i didn't follow the factory (who used Delrin in stead of rubber) for some of the bearings/bushings; It wll already be loud and stiff, no need to overdo it.
Kudos also for ER that they resprayed the front Bilsteins in 'green' after they relocated the spindle, as the RSR Bilsteins nowadays are actually yellow. but where green back in the day.
I did select polybronze bearings for the spring plates over rubber. We'll see how they go as experiences and opinions on those seem to vary wildly.

If only the 5km rule here in Melbourne could be lifted, so we can get to - and work on - the car.....
