I think your right. Looking at the wheels closely its the paint work that gives them that appearance.

i bought a set of cheapo repop fuchs for the new owner of my VW Fastback, they were machine finished and the petals had a harsh lip rather a soft round finish. The bad paint didn't help either. You can instantly tell the difference, especially next to a genuine set. Looks like this car has the same set. Regardless, very nice and very rare car, why not spend a little more on polished and painted Flat 4 repops to finish the car!?
