"Spare Hamiltons Porsche case received from mother country Germany as a spare all those years ago."
Yeah Right they did not bring out spare E sporto engines just to put in stock........
It is a 72 E sporto engine number with a red (S) shroud and who knows what bits inside it.
I suspect that at best it is an engine out of one of the 7 E sportos that came in that year or even an engine out of a sporto that was imported separately at some time. I have the engine numbers for 5 australian 72 E sportos but not all of them - this one fits in close enough number wise to possibly be from the aubergine or medium blue metallic cars that I dont have an engine number listed for.
there is not a good shot of the MFI pump number (or even a mention of it) - a great cross check on an engine such as this to see if it is an E pump or not and what year it is forHugh Hodges

Hi gents
I purchased this engine and was told it was a spare Hamiltons delivered engine (which incidentally I have zero care factor about). Yet to touch it since it arrived from Bris to Melb but eventually it will be pulled down and possibly rebuilt for a future hot rod/outlaw 911
From my limited research I believe the pump is correct for 1972 E - stamped on Bosch plate is PED6KL 60/120 R3Z
see link to Bosch technical doc for this model

you are correct that should be for a 2.4 E pump
there are some other plates on it
one should have 0 408 126 014 stamped on it and there will be an 8 figure number stamped above that code on the same plate
the first 3 numbers of that 8 figure number is the date code for month and year the pump was made.Hugh Hodges

That motor has just been rebuilt prior to the seller purchasing it a few years ago from Greg O'Keefe. Don't pull it down it's perfect. I drove it in a 71S that Greg had until he found the original engine for the S and sold it to an eye Doctor in Sydney.Toby 0415 333 380
