Hi all... have had this on the (very) soft sell for a few weeks now but it's time to put it out there, offering it up here before I chance my arm on Carsales!
Selling my matching numbers, Aussie delivery (John Newell in Sydney) Carrera 3.0. One of only 29 coupes that came into Australia in 1976, this is also one of the very few with the sunroof delete option! The car is presented basically as per the Kardex Spec, with the exception of a period-correct tartan interior now (came delivered with Black Perforated Leather) and no longer has A/C - a weight saving of probably 50 kg!
I have now sourced the original log books (long & expensive story!) as well as comprehensive receipts from around 1988 to present day. The car had a complete glass out respray by Zag's in Sydney approximately 15 years ago and whilst the paint still presents very well, there is a few scratches and paint imperfections commensurate with regular spirited use. The car was used for a few club track days about 10 years ago, but was converted back to road spec shortly after I purchased it including refitting the rare factory sports seats & removing the bolt-in 1/2 cage. There is evidence of the fitting points where the carpet & rear firewall vinyl cover (whatever it's called) was cut to fit, but are not noticeable in everyday use. Peter Blackman has sourced the correct material to recover the rear firewall cover & parcel shelf if a prospective owner was inclined to do so, but the interior (as well as the minor paint correction) were 2 jobs I had planned to do before I sold it but have run out of time & money. It shows 310,000kms on the dial, but I believe I have reflected this into the asking price.
The big PLUS is the $40k engine rebuild recently carried out by Harrison RRR in order to return the matching numbers engine to the car (another long story) - work included new crankshaft, new Mahle barrels & pistons, new conrods, new oil pump, new camshafts, refurbished wiring loom, refurbished cylinder heads etc. Basically everything was taken to standard factory spec & car now pulls like an absolute bullet train!
The car is currently on Club Permit, which is obviously not transferable but will include a RWC for Victorian purchasers. Asking $195k, but open to genuine offers.
Please call or message me on 0412289913 as I don't seem to get DM notifications from the forum anymore.
