    WTB 74 Carrera engine lid

I need some help please in locating a good 1974 engine lid please preferably with the brass tube brazed in place for a rear wiper but happy to find one even if it hasn't had the rear wiper.

The Carrera I recently purchsed did not have a ducktail or whale tail installed so want to return it to original spec.

Hmmm. Pretty sure I used such a lid for my 69 resto... Even had the correct blanking plates for the number plate delete... It has the brazed tube. Probably not much good to you now as I removed the 5-bar tabs to suit the 3-bar grill.

Does "bump" mean you have found one Clyde?
I am still looking for one, did you get more than one offer, could you let me know of any leads to get a straight one.

Your car has a whale tail and lip that I sold to Chris some time ago very expensive piece of kit as was factory supplied. It came with a 74 Carrera Targa I had purchased but was raw never painted or fitted.

At the time when you could but the tail they were last listed at $5k and the rubber lip at $1900

I think the 77 has the slight curve on the inside LHS frame if so I can help I think I need a straight frame like the early cars so 74/75 only

These were my selections at the time. The red and white lids have the scallop I think you're taling about. The red one had the brazed tube, but not punched through to the external side. The white one did NOT have provisions for licence plate lights, the red one had the blanking plates. The blue was original 69.

                  Clyde, John.
What an insight. I had no idea of these finer points. I am I right in thinking then that the tail I have is the correct item for a 77 3.0?
A flat lid for me is just a personal thing & nothing to do with being period correct as the tail will always stay with the car if sold.
So any flat lid that fits would work for my purposes.
What is a straight rust free lid worth?
                  Thanks.

Chris was very happy to acquire the tail so perhaps ask him if its correct for the car, I think the answer is yes.

In the meantime find me a straight frame lid with no number plate lights and I will do you a deal for a normal correct lid for your car

From my own research & Chris's knowledge I am sure it is correct & by all accounts a difficult thing to find.
I do have a flat engine lid & without number plate lights. Unfortunately it is damaged, bent on the left side. Had a body shop fit it up yesterday, fixable but expensive (for my purposes). I have some shots.
I can send to you if you would like to see.

By straight I meant without the curve as evident in 2 of the 3 lids in Johns post.

                            Perfect for what I want

I will take some pics of the lid I can offer but won't be until Tuesday.

It has the curve on the LHS like Johns lids which I believe is correct for a 77 car and has no issues I am aware of.
