    Got your PMs.

Good to hear that the new diaphragm is doing it's job!

Sorry, I don't have a spare one of these. Does anyone know if this lower section is the same as on the non-sporto shifts and is replaceable?

Can you post a pic of the worn part? Can it be welded?

No non sporto stick is one piece. I've got a spare non sporto but ideally would find a complete sporto unit (minus switch) as haven't heard too many happy tales about pulling it apart and putting back together.

Wow. Only ever seen bad wear on the sliding lockout plate. I can see why you need a new one.

There's more than half left. Probably good for another few kms.

Is the wear indicating a much larger shifting problem in the gearbox. It seems so unusual that such force has been used to engage gears unless the mechanism had worked itself loose and was being forced. My penny's worth. Nev

There's no problem with the shifting Nev, other than there was no real lockout for P/R so was pretty vague.

Mitchell that is what I was getting at; there was an issue that had caused the wear and if the park/ reverse lock out was not functioning then that is the reason. It is just sometimes people fix the outcome of a problem without fixing or understanding the cause.

If I were to hazard a guess I'd say that it was adjusted really poorly so that the lever was almost always in contact with the plate.
And/or the lever for some reason is really soft. That makes more sense to me as I've seen a few of these and any wear I've ever seen has been on the plate like this. I assume the levers are hardened, maybe my Sporto one wasn't or the hardening failed?

I think you may be right about the poor adjustment.

Does the lockout plate still move freely? Have you had a look at the shift coupler and intermediate bush?

When I got it there was no bushing on shift rod and no bushings in coupling. The mechanic replaced them not me though but didn't notice wear.. Yep the plate/springs move.
