It would be nice to know if the second car's recaros are sports seats... Could be a good buy.

If anybody wants the Brisbane car looked at, just say so.

Shame about the lack of detail in the photos of the orange car.

Is Puerto Rico a LHD or RHD country?

        john/cam

spoke to the vendor today, apparently has had numerous offers since listing mainly for the s motor. recaros are g series not the original sport seats and the car is original rhd.

yes the photos lack detail, have asked for engine and trunk photos, will post if they come through.

A genuine early rhd rolling shell plus a 2.0S engine is definitely worth the current asking price. But it bothers me that he can describe the paint job so well but only 'thinks' that there's no rust....

The black car looks like a good basis for an RS replica.

              update,

vendor now not so sure if puerto rican car originally rhd, that should put a dent in interest in it...

Puerto Rico is awfully close to the Virgin Islands which (both British and US) drive on the left. It could well have been delivered rhd to suit the owner back in the day... If you can get the chassis numbers I can tell you for sure.

chassis number 9111101688 which makes it a RoW (non US) 1971 T by my book. No more info on if it was RHD originally.

                          Craig, you're right: 911, 1=1971, 1=T, 0=Coupe, 1688th of the year

I thought my book had references to rhd, but it only covers sportos and Karman derivatives unfortunately. I've tried Wikipedia, Google, and a dozen other random searches without luck. Also tried my PET CD without luck

                              which one Cam?

the 911 1 1 0 1688 is as stated above : a 1971 T coupe built at Porsche - not Karmann (it would need the 6th number to be 2 for it to be Karmann)
The numbers do not tell you LHD or RHD
you can infer it sometimes as there are some special USA derivatives with unique numbers - mostly these`are engine numbers/ types rather than chassis numbers but for some years / models they show up as different chassis numbers due to the different engine designation in the 5th number.

I think there is not enough information in the chassis number to say that it is a ROW car in this case.

I know Peter Morgans "original Porsche 911" has the 1971 US T coupes numbered as 911 1 1 1 XXXX (in my version at least) BUT I believe that is a typo (very easy to make with these numbers) and is a "copy and paste" down from the targa in the line above.(in fact the whole series of 1971T chassis numbers is a mess in my book)

                              I believe that ALL 1971 T coupes made at porsche have the series beginning 911 1 1 0 .

Tobias Aichele's "Porsche 911 forever young" compiled with assistance of the factory shows 1971 porsche built T coupes in the series 911 1 1 0 0001 - 2583. This would be one of these.

to know whether this was a USA car or a sporto you would need to know the engine type 911/07 (or /08 sporto) for the USA (however 911/07 engines also seemed to be in all Karmann cars from my data sources) and 911/03 or 911/06 for ROW
