WTB front struts and torsion bars- suit 69E

    Dear all,

I am chasing front struts and torsion bars to suit 69E to overcome the worn out original hydro pneumatic suspension on my car.

Looking for both the strut and insert- any condition considered.

Please PM if you can help.

    Many thanks

What are the brakes your using, 3 or 3.5 mount spacing?

            Brakes are 3.5 mount spacing

I've got a set of struts, but they are miss matched. One is a 69, the other is a 71.

              Both with 3.5.

If you're still looking I can get some photos.

Just checked email/ msg and logged in.
I have the 3" caliper space ones, may have a mismatched 3.5 pair available down the track when I get time to swap out for correct Koni set.

*Caution* That'll make them differ at the ball-joint too. One will be the "wedge pin" type which are alleged to be a flawed design (?), the other is the later/usual type. Just something to remember when ordering/replacing ball joints.

Thanks for the advice. Chasing a matched pair in light of Fishcop's post.

                      Thanks

Sorry TC... I was just mentioning the difference :/

You're off my Xmas card list mate

I didn't realise that the 'wedge' style strut to ball joint was viewed as a flawed design. There's a lot of cars running around with them I'd guess.

I don't entirely understand the flaw - and I ran them in the 69... I'm citing the late Grady Clay whose knowledge and opinion I think we all accept is nearly infallible He and another guru (the late Warren Hall) also called them potentially dangerous. I believe their fear is that failure could be catastrophic in certain circumstances and Grady for one refused to keep them in his cars.

Found a quote on ESR: Hopefully everyone has updated their struts and ball joints to the ’72-> later ‘wedge-pin’ type attachment.
I consider the pinch-bolt to be defective and I think if today’s regulations had been in place, Porsche would have recalled the pinch-bolts.
There is much about this on Pelican.
