Its a pity, you didn't post this advert. a week earlier.

i just sold a pair off my '73 in the last few days, for a similar backdate project .

they were picked up today....i bought new, not cheap though.

It’s all about timing unfortunate this time around Kaufmanp.
reedminor I am aware of the new ones available but it’s always worth trying our fellow members first.
No doubt Porsche will greet me with open arms when I walk through their doors

Second Hand Original Front Guards are very difficult to repair properly if the flanges are perforated from rust , and most if not all are.

but you wont know until you paint strip them. also common issues with headlight buckets rusting as well.

Its probably more economical in the long run, to sell them (if you have them) and buy new ones.

Yep - I bought new ones - as you didnt know what you had until the paint was off and I had heard expensive horror stories about making old guards new again....

Just don't expect Porsche Classic fenders to fit like the originals.

I appreciate all the advice. It’s a labour of love either way. New or aftermarket steelies makes for common sense. Thanks again.

FWIW, my "Porsche Classic fenders" fitted just fine , no issues at all.

                        Zags in Sydney installed mine.

they said they were relatively straightforward to fit…. Less fiddly and time consuming g than older guards or dansk ….. I won’t repeat what the guys said about the dansk parts…. But whatever you saved on the initial purchase, was used up trying to get them to fit.

Thanks again, that answers all my thoughts what’s offered on the market.
I’m definitely sold on Porsche classic now, I guess we should all know that the Standards in every respect are very high from the Porsche factory and seldom achieved by aftermarket suppliers.....

You may also be able to sell the guards you remove too - which in your head at least - you can subtract off the purchase price.
