    WTB - Recaro Sports Seats

    Hi,
I'm trying to hunt down a pair of original Recaro Sport Seats for my LWB (1970) like those pictured below._MG_97821368426740.jpg .
    Appreciate any leads.

Do you have a budget in mind ? Clyde can probably chime in on what the current market price is on these. Probably at least $12,000 for a pair and maybe more for the base frames.

I could have helped you a while back with some repro seats but our supplier in europe has virtually closed down shipping anywhere outside the EU.

    Good luck with the search.

Bring a Trailer Auctions is the best place to buy and sell vintage and classic vehicles - Porsche, BMW, Land Rover, and more.

        Thanks Phil.

I'm prepared to pay market value - just finding it exceedingly difficult to locate a period correct pair!

            Yes USA seats

I see your looking for basket weave seats which will be harder to find than the later 72/73 style seats but will keep my eyes open for you and ask a few contacts if they know of any.

I have restored more than 10 sets of these and every time I have had to re weld the frames, in most cases fix the recling mechanism and replace the foams as they are disintegrated or disintegrating.

Tony makes the seats to hard to sit in for my liking originals always allowed you to sit in them not on them, you need the right combo of foam and strapping tension.

Thanks Clyde. Do you have your seats restored locally?

I've heard that the period correct perforated vinyl is very difficult to come by (and it even varied depending on the year)?

Yes the seats are restored locally but the foams come from overseas.

I have learnt from experience which bits are usually broken (the frames always require some welding) and most the side recliners require attention too

I have never done a 70 set with perforated bolsters and basketweave centres but I am sure the materials are available maybe Southbound in the UK has what you need.

Foams come from Deser via Mr Fiat in the USA.
