    Wanted - Chrome Over-riders

Anyone got a pair of good chrome rear over-riders? I'm after a pair without holes or the rubber. I'm thinking of going back to my original rear bumpers/number-plate panel (I have steel flaired bumpers, but don't think they're real RS versions).

I do have an old pair of over-riders I could re-chrome, not sure what would be cheaper?

    Cheers

    Dont do it!
Extra weight at the wrong end.
You must be hanging with the wrong crowd.
Keep this up Bill Black, Varmit, Larry and I will have to do a Seinfeld style intervention.

I recall seeing someone in the UK was making polished alloy over-riders but they weren't cheap. I think it was Karman connection (spelling?) I like the idea of old look with light weight.

Paul's right about the weight I'd be adding back to the car... I recall weighing the rear bumper components, over-riders, the die-cast rear light housings, and the metal engine lid - I recall it being just north of 25kg. The light housings particularly (and surprisingly) are very heavy.

you can buy new repro's. Around $119 USD each with no holes.

I like them. Bugger the weight!

www.chrometech.com.au reckon they can plate glass and plastic.
Might be worth talking to them if you don't want the weight penalty.

Thanks Adam, good feedback. I have a good pair that were welded up and painted body colour - I think I'll send them off for chroming.

                    Anyone have a favoured chromer?

Having just had all the Ducati bits chromed, I am very pleased with the work done by Star Plating in Vic (recommended by Jason at Chequered Flag) but not much good for you in Brisvegas
Just make sure whoever you use prepares the overriders well (strip and polish) then coat with copper, nickel & chrome as three separate layers.
(or in some instances nickel, nickel, chrome depending on material being chromed eg for header pipes, mufflers)
Based on my work, should cost in the order of $50 each for a class job.

                          John

Metalart at Geebung used to be very good but I haven't used them for some years and don't know of anyone else who has used them recently.

                          Cheers

Surely there is a whole host of Brisvegas and Gold Coast operators doing bling! Perhaps old gold though, as silver and white don't go together.
