    WTB steering wheel

I have just (almost finished) been putting new carpet in the 71 T and want to purchase a good condition OEM wheel to replace the after market Momo in it currently.

    Anyone have one for sale?

911 or 914 wheel 380mm diam - leather wrap preferred. Will recover if a bit tatty.

      Michel

400mm wheel is standard for 71T, although a 380mm is far nicer to drive with. Borrowed a 380 when I had my 400 recovered - didn't want to give it back.

I have a 380 mm wheel I may be happy to sell

Let me find it in the roof its certainly not perfect but price will reflect condition.

I did try to identify it properly at one stage by chiming in on a thread in Early S but never really got to the bottom of it

I remember the last number was overstamped with a different one and apparently factory did that quite a bit but cannot vouch if this was done in factory or by some other bozo.

          Stay tuned for pics

I found it, its better than I remember some stitching has come undone on the leather but only in 2 small areas. (2nd pic shows those areas from about 5.30 to 8 oclock is the area) I believe leather to be original to the wheel and still in good condition. Spokes had been painted but paint is too shiny and ordinarily done but easy fixed. Butterfly horn push is in good shape

Horn contact in place and correct rubber gasket also present.

              Overall wheel is quite decent.

              Its dated 4/72

Code is 914 347 805 10 but the 5 is an overstamp looks like it used to be an 8.

RS wheel should have 914 347 806 10 so I don't know why it was over stamped this way as it does not match the RS number anyway!!!!

I did try to find out about this at one stage but gave up.

I guess $300 would make me happy
