    Industrial casters

    Hi

anyone know where to buy reasonably priced industrial casters?

After 2x with swivel and brake that can hold 500kgs or so each (for factory style dolly)

I have tried Richmond Casters, but between $200-280 per caster is more than i am willing to pay at this stage...

happy to look at second hand as well... ideas appreciated

    cheers

Or Supercheapchit... So long as you're not having to hold it on a slope.

I think you are over engineering. The entire car weighs around 1000kg. You will only put it on the dolly once you have pulled most of the car apart so total shell weight is probably closer to 250-300kg. An industrial grade castor rated to carry 500kg will have a margin so that it will do the job without collapsing or wearing out for some time. 4 industrial 500kg castors would wheel around a complete Landcruiser for years! A much lighter unit will still last well given the very limited use it is likely to see.

          cheers

Jeff's right. I just used castors rated to 100kg each.

try CBC Bearings - Blackwoods - Specialty Fasteners even Bunnings? I bought 2 lockable and swivel, two fixed, non marking from CBC 12 months back for a total cost of around $240 ish.

you should be able to pick up quality wheel for alot less - also look on places like grays online.

              cheers Michel

Thanks for the tips guys - will sort it out knce back from port douglas.

BTW, car goes onto the dolly all inclusive (inc engine) per Dave Belford - just like they did in the factory but in reverse...

Those castors look good with the grease nipples to lubricate the axles. I'd go for these.
