    68 911 RHD on Carsales

I am sure those hunting for cars are all over it http://www.carsales.com.au/all-cars/...d=12782DA54870

According to the seller "911 project, factory right hand drive, sunroof, 5 speed coupe, garage past 27 years, very original".

Anybody have prior knowledge of this car?

He describes it as a "911 project" which sounds interesting to say the least.

Wonder what sort of "tune up" it needs ? Like an engine rebuild tune up ?

Sounds a bit cheap for a RHD 68 but you never know.........

And Dirk, stop looking at 911 ads, you'll get buyers remorse, or are you looking to start a collection.....?

Add was actually brought to my attention by a friend.

Don't worry no remorse here... however if I clean out the second garage

Car is sold. I offered to buy it yesterday at the asking price based on the photos he posted, however a "car restorer in qld" has bought it. So expect to see it back on the market at an inflated price would be my guess....yes I am frustrated that I missed it!

Phil - sounded like an engine build tune up to me.

Thought of you when I saw this ad Dirk!

The paint work at least looks very good from a distance, despite being pitched as a project. And sunroof and likely 5.5" fuchs to-boot!

It is no wonder that it got snapped up so quickly...

I too emailed the seller and heard it got sold fast. Adds credence to that time honoured phrase we often see: "First to see will buy "

It will be interesting to see if/when the car emerges back onto the market.

Maybe Hugh can check the VIN to see if it was a local delivery or a UK import. UK history might lead to rust issues.

OK Qld members, time to do some detective work and find out where it ends up.

It was a UK delivered car, delivered to UK on 18/7/1968 apparently, numbers matching, and yes 5.5" Fuch (5x). Did I say I was frustrated that I missed it??.....

                  Cam,

That was fast. Bad luck mate.

At least you know they are out there.

But good to hear they are still out there.... it reinforces the need to have the money ready to go when they do appear!!

Looked a good thing but still needs plenty of money spent even if it isn't rusty. Anything that has sat for decades will need a full brake overhaul, suspension bushes and shocks will be shot, fuel hoses, tyres and all body rubbers will also need replacement as will most oil seals in the engine and gearbox. This is all before you start dealing with internal corrosion on gears, valves, bores etc. Carbs and fuel pump will probably also need attention due to leaks.

No John, not enough room at home and I haven't got time to do much with my current bike and car projects. I like the colour though and it would suit someone like me as I would much rather do mechanical stuff than mess around with body and paint issues.
