HUGE PRICE REDUCTION Now Only $46,000 firm.
PLEASE - ONLY GENUINE BUYERS TO CALL

Fantastic car at an unbelievable price, road or race trim you choose.

    Hi all,
I've decided it is time to sell my 911, the blood, sweat, tears and money would suggest I never part with her, but alas I must. (I bought her off a typ901er in 2010)

Equally happy as a road car as it is on the track thanks to it's general originality - happy to offer car in either guise, simple change of seats, wheels, carpets, muffler, belts, front part roll cage etc OR take the lot and have the best of both worlds!

Porsche 911T, 1971, Tarmac Rally prepared with Full Vic Rego, CAMS logbook and certified full rollcage (with crossed side intrusion bars). Right hand drive (converted) with original numbers matching (rebuilt) 2.2lt engine, Webbers, factory LSD, close ratio gears…etc

Realistic build cost today could easily exceed $100K, that is finding a good one, removing rust/restoring the body, rebuilding everything (from engine to drive train) and finally prepping for racing.

Fit and finish of the car is very good, straight, jet black body. NB since the Targa in November it is showing typical stone chips etc.

Drives, handles and does everything beautifully and has been prepared by early Porsche racing specialist George Cairns and his crew. I competed in the Targa High Country two months ago (the car’s only competitive event).

    History:

    1996:
Imported from USA mid 90’s, it was a dry, straight car with original paint (Light Ivory) and no signs of any accidents. The car was dismantled and bagged for restoration by the owner (Ian), converted to right hand drive (by Mirror Image, SA) and subsequently sat for a number of years in parts as a “stalled” project.

    2000:
Glenn Sommer bought the car and began a many year restoration using genuine parts and the best of tradesmen. (Confirmed by Glenn, Jan 2012)
Ref. Glenn Sommer – Salisbury, SA

    2002/03:
Glenn had a bare metal restoration/respray performed by Casey Crash Repairs, a high end paint job. What was noted was the lack of any body/chassis damage or rust once they had it back to bare metal. (Confirmed by Glenn, Jan 2012)
    Ref. Casey Crash Repairs – (08) 82583222 - 156 Commercial Rd, Salisbury, SA 5108

    2004/05:
Glenn took the engine to Peter Kowalenko (former President and secretary of Porsche club SA and still part of the club), a mechanic who has built many Porsche engines for Adelaide Classic and the like. He has confirmed (Jan 2012) they had the engine completely stripped, inspected, replaced any/all suspect parts, new bearings, rings, Carrera tensioner, honed cylinders etc. (Confirmed by Peter, Jan 2012)

    2006: (see receipt file)
The car was then bought by Mark Poole (of Mark Poole Motorsport - Adelaide’s early Porsche specialist) he occasionally drove the car on the road for a year or so. (Confirmed by Mark, Jan 2012)
    Ref. Mark Poole Motorsport – (08) 8276 3885 - 3 Conmurra Ave, Edwardstown, SA

    2007: (see receipt file)
Mark Poole sold the car to Angus Sobels, he had Mark Poole Motorsport prepare the car for racing/track days – NC roll cage, CAMS logbook, brakes, fr strut brace, tow hooks, battery cutouts, regulation parts etc. (Confirmed by Mark, Jan 2012 and receipts)

    2008: (see receipt file)
Angus seldom used the car and sold it to Edward Cleland. Ed was after a road car. He had Mark Poole change seats, road belts, wheels, interior trims, remove front part of the roll cage etc. He also had the gearbox and clutch completely overhauled, fitting a new clutch kit, a factory LSD and close ratio gears. As the engine and gearbox were removed Mark also repaired and refinished the firewall for cosmetic purposes.
(Confirmed by Mark Poole, Jan 2012 and receipts)

2010 - current: (see receipt file)
Ed sold the car to Adam Donovan (me) and the car left for Melbourne. Adam had George Cairns (Melbourne’s early Porsche racing specialist) set the car up for Tarmac Rallies, specifically Targa events (competed in Targa High Country 2011 with a top 10 stage finish – testament to the car as it had Adam (a car racing novice) at the wheel). Focus was on suspension, chassis mods, brakes, ride heights, wheels/tyres, race regulation parts (seats/belts etc) but of course a huge amount of time was spent preparing the entire car, exhaust, timing, carburettors, safety mods, durability mods etc.
Jason from Chequered Flag Restorations (Porsche body restoration specialist) also spent time under the car repairing/strengthening/welding parts of the chassis along with a complete re-coating of the undercarriage.
George Cairns Porsche – (03)9758 5610 - Unit 35, 756 Burwood Hwy, Ferntree Gully, Vic
    Jason – Chequered Flag Restorations – (03) 9720 7911 – Fact 10, 200 Canterbury Rd, Bayswater North, Vic

Being 1971 and quite original she benefits from a most favourable handicap under current Targa regulations, Early Classic (up to end 1971). A potential winner in the right hands!

A very versatile car, ideal for Targa or short circuit racing, yet with full rego you can simply drive on the road, it will cruise all day and take you to work on sunny days! The complete front section of the roll cage is removable if you want to make it more road friendly.

Hi All - See the advert again, more history.
The questions prompted me to do a little more research into the general history and engine rebuild of the car - Thanks to Mark Poole, Ed Cleland and Peter Kowalenko for helping me peice together the history.
