Hi anybody from the register pick-up the black 1965 911 (I think it had S badge, from pictures - did they make an S in 65) for $59,000?
Was on carsales at 3.00 this afternoon, sold by 4.00!

Look good & cheap for $59,000. (I was too slow!)

Usually a scam when taken down that quickly?
Ha, no additions, in fact, watch this space for breaking news.

No Chris, this wasn't a scam. The vehicle belongs to Cameron, a 901 member. Long story, I had/thought I purchased the vehicle over the phone, sight unseen. Cameron had received calls from all over Australia, I offered over and above the asking price but he decided to keep it the family and sell it to a family member. I really wanted the car and offered more, but no go. Oh we'll I have to wait for the next 1965 Aus delivered to go up for sale!

John, it was discovered in Noosa by the previous owner, Stewart Kay.

Yes it's the car I tried to buy 14 years ago when it lived in Southport. Stewart and I spoke about it on the Early S forum a couple of weeks ago...

I helped the wife of the previous long term owner change a tyre on the car - she'd broken down and I was passing. I gave her my card and asked for her to call me if it ever came up for sale, but back then I didn't have a mobile and it was a land line number (which changed). I believe the car changed hands to the Noosa owner a few years later and I always wondered whether I missed the opportunity

It was a superb car when I saw it 14 years ago, and I would have thought it would change hands these days for north of $80k if it remained in similar original condition...

                        What was the asking price?

                        Cheers,

A little bit unusual, but each to their own, certainly someone can do what they like when selling. I guess my take on it is a bit clouded because I was in contact with Cameron about this car over a year ago, and expressed an interest in buying it if he ever wanted to sell.
I am surprised that he didn't make contact , or since he is a forum member put it out there on the forum. Which if nothing else would have avoided the scramble and retraction that occurred, and maybe have helped him price it.

The sales process can be very difficult....ask me how I know!

Dealing with multiple interested parties is like herding cats.

The first person with the $ generally wins.
