      apparently, yes !
VIN is for 911 S, PCA apparently confirm Aus delivery, original colour ivory, location of original motor unknown, significant off ebay offers, suspect somebody knows where the orignal motor is ?

nothing except it is on the list as Australian delivered and light ivory and is not one i have run across before - not surprising if the info in the ad is correct

In retrospect, it is amazing what the forward-dating 'industry' could achieve and how little valued some early cars were at that time. They seemed only a way to get, more cheaply, into a more contemporary look of Porsches. How times have changed.

It is amazing to me how trusting we are on a set of numbers, in this case with no supporting history.
I could have a full set of ID for an Australian Delivered 73S. Seems the best way to get $30K for it is to graft those numbers on to some mid seventies Frankenstein and say "yeah sure" some of the original stuff has been lost along the way (read everything of importance) but thats the correct VIN.
Surely the value is in the provenance? Or are we blind to that because of a set of easily falsified serial numbers. End of rant>

                        Well said Chris.

At least it isn't as bad as the early911s forum. It is like chucking hot chips in the air to a bunch of crazed sea gulls. It seems a fair a reasonable offer just gets pushed aside by another larger offer. When I purchased my car I was worried if anybody found out it would of been a fight to the death. So I just grabbed it with minimal help. It would be nice to post it up and say what do you guys think about this and that and there is a massive wealth of knowledge on here. Things should settle down.....Maybe. Nobody knows what the value is of these cars and I have never seen this before. Lots of people know a rough figure which is fair and reasonable but hell I don't even know what to insure mine for. Crazy crazy crazy. Has it always been like this??????

I understand he had that much interest that he realised he was sitting on something special so is going to keep it....
