WTB- set of 4 Steel Wheels

Looking for a set of 4 steel wheels for '71T, with or without tires.

5.5Jx15 or 4.5j x15 chromed (pref) or painted

Anyone have some they would like to sell or could tell me where is the best place to order them from overseas?

    Hi Jeff

I've just ordered chrome steelies from AASE Sales. They seemed to offer the best price. Postage is incorrect on the online website and it worked out at $145 per wheel ($153 on the actual box so no mark up etc) Once you add hubcaps and new lugnuts they work out as expensive as restored Fuchs but I love the retro look.

I have just had 5 off 15 X 4.5" chrome steel wheels split, then the rims rolled, then the centres and rims rechromed and then the centres welded back in, and it costs a lot more than the repro. wheels. However in my case as they were early '65 date stamped it seemed worthwhile.

I'm not sure that you would want to run 4.5" on your car I think it would look under done?

          Thanks for the feedback.
Its that retro look that I am after as well, and yes, it can be an expense option compared with repro Fuchs, but I think the look is worth it if they are period correct for the car.

AASE, Stoddard and Sierra Madre all seem to offer the same chrome repro at US$1,700 a set of 4.
AAse has the best freight costs, delivering a set to Perth for US$1,910 all up. Sierra Madre charge US$2,130 but Stoddard's online freight costs are crazy and ends up being almost US$1,000 for delivery alone.

The exchange rate seems to make UK vendors uncompetitive these days.

          Anyone else worth considering?

Jeff, definitely give Ian a call. His stash of early porsche goodies is better than Clydes. Hopefully the date stamps are OK for your needs.
