Sorry, haven't got one Ash, but I'm not sure that's the one you need if you're going with 'original'. I'll pose this to the gallery...
The slotted/ventilated shift cover also acted as the intake duct for the petrol fueled webasto heater (that's what the slots are for). Given that we didn't get Webasto heaters here (because they only fit LHD cars) - is the correct one the solid cover?
I agree with Merv, if that's yours, you'd be amazed how well it would come up with a bead blast and powdercoat.

My '71 which is reasonably original has a slotted one as per your photo. Painted black in wrinkle paint. It has some underlay beneath it to stop dust getting into the gear linkage.

This is exactly how mine was, but powercoated not wrinkle.
