Shannons Melbourne Auction 2 May 2016

A couple of nice looking IB's are up for auction tonite. Both Australian delivered one is a 79SC and the other a late Carrera with the G50 box. Interesting to see what they go for after the Tullocks auction I attended in Launceston last week for a 79 Sporto Targa SC sold by Hamiltons from a deceased estate for $45K roughly inclusive of buyers premium. ( unreg and commissioned to sell only)

Links in with the discussion on the asking and selling prices of the earlier cars and the importance of condition, modifications, quality of workmanship and history. Caveat emptor.

Merv - yes the infamous Keith and Marie ensemble. Not to be confused with Donny and Marie. Not to many arrow blue cars with pasha interior me thinks and the Shannons descriptor mentioned a 'collector' from Bargara.

Not casting any doubt directly on the car. Though body was not anything close to perfect. The chequered comment was lame reference to the interior scheme ( fantastic) and Keith/Marie.

The XU.1 was a car that I had looked closely at.
It had been for sale privately in country Victoria for $73K.
It sold for $47K last night.

One of the best cars I have ever owned with my LC GTR 202 stroker.
That's cheap. I might keep an eye out again for these babies, I would happily pay that money. Bags of fun.
