    A replacement for the Volvo

Around 8 years ago my son purchased his first car - a black 1997 Volvo 850 station wagon - much to the ridicule of our member from Darwin who's currently on tour in his rat-mobile.
Well Cam, the Volvo has been sold and today was replaced by this - a 1961 fully restored Series 2 Landie. (very dark green - original L/R colour)
The older chap in the photos is John the vendor and restorer - he took only 4 months to transform this from a very tired and rusty vehicle to what you see here. (restoration is his hobby, but he says that this is his first and only LandRover as his cost far outweighed his sale price - you know the feeling Clyde )
Improvements on the original includes - s/s fuel tank, upgraded Land Rover seats, power assisted brakes, weber carby, electronic ignition, 4 speed all synchro (series 3) gearbox, radial tyres otherwise all original.
No heater, no aircon. no radio, but heaps of fun

I trust this meets your approval Cameron.

Didn't he do a great job. I drove my LWB series 3 -
around Australia at a max of 80 kph. I won't do that again.
What are the plans for it?

Will be a shame to take it offroad and get it dirty.

You're right Phil, that's why he'll probably still use our Series 80 when he heads bush.
