        Rich,

        Beautiful bike

        Let me try this again........
By the look it would seem that your new fixie is about a 55mm frame. With as much seat post as you have out...

        I'd put you at about 5' 9" +

        I'm I close?

        Cheers mate

          Chuck,

He's only 4' 8", but he has very long legs.

ha ha... i'm 6' 1" - seat is a little higher than i am riding at the moment. have done some adjustments since taking the photos (a precaution in case i stacked it into the back of a car or something). you are pretty close on the size. 56cm seat tube, 58cm top tube.

                  20t cog, 165 cranks with 52t.

not sure whether that is low or high, but for a bike i bought off a forum it turns out to be pretty damn close to what i need to get to work without spinning my legs off down the hills nor making going up the hills too difficult...

I'm only my third day into cycling into Brisbane and out for work, but I've got to give the thumbs up to these new generation hub-geared bikes!

I'm actually an ex-bicycle mechanic (I've had a few careers now...) and quite familiar with derailluers and other systems - that's why I hate them. I understand the patent for the old Rohloff and Sturmey-Archer hub gear systems have expired, so Shimano and Sram have now 'improved' on the old designs making 7-8-9 speed hubs an affordable minimal maintenance option for a daily rider.

It's very nice having silent gears and no chain noise! Oh and hydraulic disc brakes are the schnizz!

Thanks Rich- might try a a similar setup as I'm currently running 42 / 13 which although is fast on the flats, can be a bit of a push over any distances with hills.

Rob (the Volvo boy) has just built this fixed wheelie, Started with a donated Allegro frame and bought all the other bits from US and UK. Don't ask me any tech details as I have little interest - although I'm advised that some bits are pretty good. Apparently further modifications are on the drawing board - almost like a 901 bug

PS The card in the rear wheel spokes is a photo of a number of women in various states of undress- apparently it's the thing to have on such a cool machine. Sorry Clyde, couldn't get a close up.

...........and I notice that all you blokes (softies) on this thread have a front brake. There is a technique for braking without the need for the hand brake - weight saving is very important up here in the hills of Upwey

very cool mr upwey ( the bike of course...).

I ride with cars so prefer a brake for emergencies! Haven't got the skid stop down yet...

Really soft people run freewheel cogs...
