    IT Question

Ok last year I bought a HP laptop and it has a trial version of Office 2007 that has now run out.

I don't want to cough up for the new version as is is no great leap forward from the Office 2003 version that was on my last laptop.

What's the go here, can I just install Office 2003? Do I have to unistall the trial version.

Is this likely to create 'issues'? Will I lose my current emails?

    I hate IT crap

i just did a rebuild of my c:\ drive over the weekend... i have a partition of 20gb for C:\ where all programs are installed, then 140gb D:\ where i keep all my data. makes reformatting C:\ easier as you don't lose data - although i did manage to lose all my emails. oh and itunes is a bitch...

aside from that, if you have a similar set up it should be an issue to reformat and install office 2003... wouldn't have thought you could run both.

Hung or Darren should be able to shed more light than me though...

      Cam,

You should be ok with outlook (but there is no guarrantee).
With the document and spreadsheet I think there is a free compatibility pack for office 2003 to read 2007 formats.

If all else fails google is your friend.

I am amazed that you can buy a new laptop and start having error messages virtually straight away......

I think I might give a Mac a crack next time

Cam, have a XP network in the office and a Mac network (3 laptops and 3 other devices) at home. The Macs are way more robust and worth the premium.
