    Our Big Swim

    Hi Everyone,

As many of you know in a few weeks I am doing the 20km Rottnest swim over in Perth as a duo with a good mate of mine.

Anyway its a great chance to raise some funds for a few worthwhile charities.

We have put together a pretty good website. Have a look (at least its a bit of a laugh - yeah we dont take ourselves too seriously, but we have trained hard for over a year). If you can help out that would be fantastic!

    check out: www.ourbigswim.com

...and pray the sharks are not hungry on the 20th of Feb

    Thanks everyone
    AV

Great initiative AV. Good luck to both of you.
The date of the swim rang a bell, but I couldn't remember why.........until Julie checked your website and said "Hey,that's on my birthday"
So for that reminder I've tipped in a bucket.

BTW, who gets the car if you drown? ..........

Swimming for me is staying alive when I'm in the water (even if it's 4' deep)

Great work AV! Very clever and comical.

Best of luck with it all. I know Jappy said he would do it as well but is does not like warm water.

AV (& Swifty - partner in crime) have a new addiction to add to early 911's, they both had a great day - currents played havoc with the whole field, & the wind got up early, but due to some great navigation we weren't as affected as some.
It's a long day, 4am start, but the look of satisfaction on both the boys faces on completion was fantastic. AV is stepping up to do it by himself next year - 20km!!!

PS.the electric probe wasn't even taken out if it's case!

I'm putting together a team for next year's event. Hopefully will get about 200 starters........each swimmer will need to be able to swim at least 100 metres......
I can't, so I'll be walking the first 50 metres into the Cottesloe surf and last 50 metres onto the shore of Rottnest to break the winners tape.
Support boat will be the Rottnest Island Ferry - trust we can get Captain Craig Duthie (epilot) as skipper :p

                  All,

It's a bit self indulgent but if you're interested here is a video of the highlights.

                  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=txgQCIDDM0g

We raised $60k for the 3 charities. Very happy with that...big thanks to all who supported.
And a really big thanks to Jappy (and his whole family including the inlaws - their boat is the 58ft cat that features in the middle of the video) for all the support in Perth and on the water.
Time to get back to car stuff...my engine is out and on a pallet at Spencers.
