    New Underground Garage

    The digging has started - WOO HOO!

    Work has begun on my new garage (and house). After 20 years and 4 houses without a descent garage I'm finally building "Manland". Happy to keep any fellow garage-philes updated with the progress. I'd really appreiate any suggestions or tips for decking out my new auto nirvana.

                So Tom, is that a descent into your decent garage?

                  Tom, looks great.
                  Two comments;
                  1. Turntable is a good idea...I assume it can be operated remotely from vehicle.
                  2. Get rid of the stairs and put in a lift :p
                  3. Is that Royal Brighton GC in the background?

                    Well spotted Pete, that is indeed the "Royal and Ancient" Brighton Golf Links.
                    I was talked into the turn table - now claiming it as my own great idea.
                    No chance of a lift without blowing to already swelling budget, and my selfish wife won't let me sell the children to fund it......!

                      Yes, there's a ramp from the street front. Had to extend it into the basement to keep the angle as flat as possible.

                        Tom, can you share the details on the turntable?

                          Australian turntables were the recommended supplier. I wasn't sure we needed one but my forward thinking wife had concerns about our kids parking in years to come. Good idea given that we plan to stay in this house for good, plus we can get 4 cars in and out without any shuffling.

                          I'm going to put a mirror disco ball above it and relive my glory days at "the Carousel" and it's revolving dance floor - hello Boogie nights!!!

                          World's best turntables system for residencial parking, loading docks, industrial usage, car showroom & more.

                            Thanks for the link Tom. My plans already include a turntable, although I have been in two minds about it, I'll give it more thought. I'd probably appreciate the convenience...

                              Tom, smart wife and a very good idea, you'll never have to back up the ramp into the street. The first turntable I ever saw was in John Law's house which was on a clifftop at Whale Beach NSW in 1963, and able to hold 2 cars. Now what about a hoist as well?
                              Regards
