Shipping from Canada - any advice?

I made a purchase on ebay and the cost of shipping is pretty high.

The seller can do it via DHL for about $455. I got quotes from DHL, FedEx & UPS all of which are much higher (like $1k+). All are air-freight.

    The package is $14.09kg and boxed dimensions are 116cm x 46cm x 46cm.

Does anyone have any tips on shipping? Are there good sea freight options which anyone may have used before?

    Thanks

    Shipping is killing o/s purchases.

My floor section was shipped from Canada, drop shipped to the US via Toll. Similar dimensions (except much thinner) and about 10kg - all up was $303 USD.

DHL may be the go if Toll isn't cheaper.

Yes shipping sucks and getting worse.

You should contact a freight forwarder who will use sea freight. I am sure it would be heaps cheaper just have to get the seller to get it to the docks somehow.

I shipped an entire car engine from Portand USA to Melbourne including all charges for around $1800 2 years ago and it was bloody heavy and massive.
