    The world's best car collection?

Is this the world's best collection of rare and classic cars of the 20's and 30's? Check out the picture gallery - wow!!

It's on my list of places to visit within the next 5 years. Has anyone on this forum been there? Impressions?

Peter, have visited this museum twice, most recently last year.

First time was around 25 years ago and it was better then. cars were better looked after and presented better. Seems that now the French Govt has taken it over, its languished a bit, lacking good curators.

When I have some more time, will post pics of the recent visit.

I recommend staying overnight in the town, enjoying the Alsace food and wine and spending about 4-5 hours walking the museum. we were lucky to score a ride in a vintage Citroen that was being exercised on the back lot around a short road. Was very interesting talking to the driver.

This place was definitely on my list of places to stop on the official TYP901 Germany tour (if this ever happens).

Peter, here are some pics inside and out of the museum.

All the pics of my first visit are on colour prints which I would have to scan (and find them first).

There's a pic of a cabrio Beetle just for Julie.

Its the home of the largest Bugatti collection in teh world although some of the Royalles I saw originally appear to have been sold off.

there were a lot more late model race cars this time around whereas the initial visit 20 years ago saw more vintage models and some famous old Benz's such as Himmlers car.

The pic above the blue Bugatti "ute" are all childrens pedal cars. Who knows what these would get on ebay with collectors of this stuff.

And the restaurant to visit that evening for authentic Alsace food including their famous Tarte Flambee.

Sheryl highly recommended the French onion soup.

And if you are into Trains as well, Europes largest train museum is also situated in the same area.
