    Heavy duty wheel dollies

    hey guys

    apologies for the vagueness of these challenges...

    need a set of wheel dollies that can handle some pretty insane weights. moving a car that has stuffed tyres (not easily fixable) and need to get it onto the back of a truck without doing damage.

    car weighs something between 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes...

    gojak make this http://www.zendextool.com/gojak/gojak-6313.html but don't think its weight limit up up to the ambiguous weight and having a car on the back of a truck bouncing up and down on it.


    any ideas?




    p.s. might get brave one of these days and post some pictures...

    How would you get dollies up a ramp? ?? mobile crane perhaps at each end
    ??

    Have you asked a professional car carrier?

      Not sure why the vagueness? However with those sorts of weights, I'd be inclined to engage a pro with experience in heavy vehicle recovery. There are "industrial" type dollies designed for the purpose of moving immobilised trucks - but you're not going to buy that stuff at Supercheap if you know what I mean.

          God help us a Bentley - gulp

          Kennards coates etc have specialist lifting moving gear - they might have heavy duty dollies . Wheels strapped to the dolly etc. but sounds like a big hiab/sml crane might be what you want?

            yeah... getting that impression. would be nice to be able to move the car around it's destination whenever we need to as well - wonder what it would cost to get something fabricated like this (presumably cheaper than shipping):

              No idea the cost of those in the link , though new lockable HD swivels castors/wheels ain't cheap when x 16

              Not a tricky fab project - if you got to move it over uneven grnd go larger Diam if you can or do what other have done, fab a frame to go under the floor/chassis with 4 very HD lge Diam wheels

              Check blackwoods CBC etc for an idea of what's avail

                Plenty of vehicle accidents that I attend, end up with 2 tonne plus vehicles being winched up onto tilting flat bed trucks. The wheels on these cars are often at 30 degree angles to one another but once the winch is applied the vehicle will follow the cable. It looks ugly but is effective.

                      Wrecks or tanks, it is how a Towie will get it on and off his truck and delivered to your destination, sounds like you are trying to overcomplicate it.

                        problem isn't getting it onto the truck... it's the getting it off the truck and into location that will be the issue (not very much space in the other warehouse)... hence why dollies would make that process much much easier.

                          I was expecting much worse... A professional tower will move these fine as they are. Don't hurt yourself.

                            thoughts on how much damage to the rims though (on flat tyres, that won't take pressure)?

                            once we get to the new location, due to the driveway slope and amount of stuff in the other warehouse, going to have to drop the car at the front door and man-handle it inside... not sure how that works with flat tyres?
