    GO ON TOUR WITH TARGA

If you are looking for an excuse to get out of the office and hang up your pinstripes for a week in Tasmania, now is the time to join the 13 teams already signed up for the ultimate driving holiday - the Targa Tasmania Unique Cars Tour.

Event owner and promoter Octagon is proud to have the support of leading motoring publication Unique Cars Magazine as naming rights sponsor to the Targa Tasmania Tour in 2006.

As featured on Channel Nine's Getaway program earlier this year, this amazing six-day drive to be held from April 25 - 30 will take you to all of Tasmania's major cities and towns via competition prepared Targa Stages, leading the competition vehicles through the stages.

The Tour was created in 2003 for those motoring enthusiasts who seek the ultimate thrill of being a part of a challenging tarmac rally without having to modify their classic or rare vehicle and without the pressure of speed and competition.

As part of the Unique Cars Targa Tasmania Tour, entrants will experience all the hype of the competition proper, including the opportunity to rub shoulders with some of Australia's top motorsport personalities.

As part of their holiday package, entrants will also attend all Targa Tasmania functions as well as some specialised Tour activities and organised events. In particular, a mouth-watering feast at Southern Tasmania's Barilla Bay restaurant, home of the world-renowned Barilla Bay oysters, will no doubt tempt the taste buds.

On two competition days, the Tour cars finish around lunchtime and join an on-course hospitality villa where entrants can sit and watch the action while indulging in fine Tasmanian food and beverages.

For the first time in 2006, the Unique Cars Targa Tasmania Tour will also include a lap around Launceston's Symmons Plains Raceway, home to the Tasmanian round of the V8 Supercars.

The Targa Tasmania Unique Cars Tour package includes a full entry, daily lunches and all social functions - all for $3190. Technical and safety requirements are not as stringent as those for full competition vehicles; so now all you need is the car.

Making up the entry numbers in the 2006 Unique Cars Targa Tasmania Tour is the four-team entry from the Jaguar Car Club Tasmania and with a few more yet to enter, the 'cats' are set to be the dominant marque when the cars come to town next year.

Entrants in the Tour will join the 200 competition crews who have entered the exciting 15th anniversary Targa Tasmania thus far.

What a pity, the R Gruppe gathering is on May 4-7 and I will have just been in Germany the week before, so much as this sounds like fun, I think I'll have to wait till Classic Adelaide for a bit of a blast in the 911R.

it would be good to get an informal team together if any members are interested though.

Also, there are a few already mumbling about Classic Adelaide 2006 where Porsche is the featured marque. a TYP901 team would look fantastic.
