One of the things discussed on numerous occassions are driver ed days.
The club ran one in 2005 at Attwood, that many members attended.
The club intends to run or organise a similar event or something on a slightly larger scale should there be sufficient interest next year.
The three potential events are as follows:
ATTWOOD - simliar to 2005. Attwood is the Police driver education centre near the Melbourne airport. From a geographical stand point, this is nice and close for Melbourne members. It is limited to outright speed, but does have some nice twisty stuff to get you in the spirit of things.
DECA - located in Shepparton, Deca has three different facililties that could be used. There is a smallish track out the back that you can get some decent speed up on. There is also the skin pan which when wet is the best thing to learn car control on! There is also the figure 8's which is rather bumpy but kinda cool too.
WINTON - full blown track, but it would be hired out by the club or professioanl driver (such as Peter Fitzgerald). The day would more than likely be during the week as the track is booked most weekends. The day would allow the drivers to do as many laps as they want, get some instruction regarding driving and their lines, braking points etc. Winton is also closer to NSW, and hopefully we would have some interstate support for this.
Lodge your interest here, and choose which you would prefer to do.
