    Thredbo 2009

ok guys, thredbo 2009 is on. it was an unquestionable success last year. make sure you don't miss out this year.

The Australian TYP 901 register is forum for enthusiasts who pay homage to this remarkable machine.

    rough plan is as follows:
    - thur 23/4 afternoon run up to albury
    - fri 24/4 morning drive up to thredbo
    - fri 24/4 evening drinking & casual dinner
    - sat 25/4 morning drive (jindabyne, wild brumby distillary... and lots of tarmac!)
    - sat 25/4 evening drinking & dinner at a local restaurant
    - sun 26/4 morning drive back to melbourne...

note that there is currently no public holiday for anzac day (http://www.vic.gov.au/Victorian-Publ...day-Dates.html) - so plan ahead if you need to book annual leave. it's worth it!!

Clyde is currently looking into accomodation options - probably where we were last year as it was comfortable and had undercover parking.

if you are up for it let us know as we need to book early.

    Cheers

Like to be on top eh Clyde ?

I should mention that any Sydney siders planning to come should consider staying in Canberra/Cooma on the Thurs night unless of course you decide to come down to Albury, stay with the Vic boys that night then enjoy the absolutely fantastic morning drive up to Corryong. It would definitley be worth the 5- hrs run to Albury on thurs arvo/evening to do the Friday drive including 75 flat our Kms of the Alpine way into Thredbo.

As much as I would love to join everyone, I will still be in Europe that weekend so will ahve to content myself with wandering about the new Porsche Museum.

I whole heartedly endorse this weekend which delivers more fun driving than even a 6 hr at Phillip Island.

ok, so clyde and I are the only ones not put off by mr upwey?!?

no major conferences or conventions that weekend...

          prices are:
          Sinlgle $330 ($330 pp)

          Double $440 ($220 pp)

          Triple $525 ($175 pp)

I have put in the price per person for the mathematically challenged. Apparently clyde is having the upstairs room again.

at this stage looks like clyde's upstairs in our triple and mr upwey and I are flipping coins for what's left...

          any other takers?!?

          sydney-siders?!?

          Canberrans?!?

          Cam? John?

          ...

Unless we get more confirmations - at least 6 cars it's hardly worth going.

Rich, it was a hoot last time because it was all new to us and even though there were only 5 cars, we had 8 people.
The idea behind this trip was not only the driving but also the socializing and meeting members from Sydney, Canberra and Melb that we only chat with on this forum. Also last time, the highlights for me (apart from the driving) were the visits to the Schnapps Distillery and the farm - both thanks to Jock and Suzie (Canberra members) - who to date haven't put their hands up. (figuratively speaking).
So as much as I enjoyed sleeping with both you and Clyde, I still think that unless we get a commitment from more members then it's not a goer - for me at least.

                            Regards
