    Fuel Leak!!!!

I've just noticed a small leak at the end of the hard fuel line at the fitting to the injector, the nut seems to be tight, although I didn't want too get too physical. My question is how tight should that fitting be? & what would cause the leak suddenly? Its cylinder 4 (back drivers side) so at least is easy to get to.

Michael, your problem is the fuel pipe.
Has it been well supported in the rubber mounts where it passes through the stacks?

Does the leak appear to be from above or below the pipe nut?

If it is from under or around the pipe nut, you have quite possibly got a split flare on the end of the pipe. These nuts can be tightened quite a bit. If tightening it does not do the trick, carefully check the pipe for cracks. These normally do not crack or split, but it is possible.
Also try loosening the nut so you can wriggle the pipe to find a different seating position for it, then re-tighten it

thanks, the leak was above the nut, coming through the hole the fuel line goes though.

Did as recommended --now NO LEAK thank you.

How much would that have cost if you had to pay a mechanic? Well worth the joining fee.
              As Clyde said, Go Spyder.

where fuel and the risk of fire are concerned... put it on your "to do" list Michael..

you don't want an early 911 bbq!

... likewise, am feeling impressed with myself.
Descovered the smell of petrol (which I've stupidly "lived with" for a little while - noted the BBQ comment earlier !!) and managed to change the copper washers on the Webers, no more leak!

Of course, i first tried to just tighten them (why am I so slack ??), and created a lovely petrol fountain for a few seconds !!!

The Porsche dealer just down the road (for emergencies only you understand) had to order the washers specially from Germany (??!!).
The only other place i could find that sold copper washers quickly (local washer shop - Coventry Fastners in Artarmon) sold them in packs of 100s, but managed to look so miserable that they gave me a couple for free !!!

... clearly there was more to it than just that washer.
Smoke bellowed out on tuesday, seems the LH carby caught fire, dropped debris into number 3 cylinder and has bent a valve (at least), Grant at Autohaus Hamilton is going to show me the damage tomorrow ...
