    Clutch

    Hi Guys,

Noticed that my car has developed a noticeable whine when the clutch engages from a standing start. Don’t seem to have any slippage / burning clutch smell, just an annoying noise.

Any thought on what it might be?

    TIA

Can you describe the noise a little better? Is it as you depress the clutch pedal; as you release it; only in first gear...

My guess is the throw out bearing also

KYJ had the same noise a few years ago. I just pleasantly told her that the noise wasn't appreciated, and it went away. :p
.........maybe it was co-incidence that George had replaced the thrust bearing just prior our little talk.

        Just joking Shane

Little hard to describe, but it is a fairly high pitched noise that only occurs as the clutch starts to engages in first. No noise as the clutch is depressed, only as it is let out and dissappears as it completely engages. Went for a quick trip down to Torquay yesterday and I'm pretty sure there are no other issues with it.

          Cheers

Sounds like you may just have some dust on the pressure plate...?

Thanks for all the comments. I'll be having the car serviced in the next couple of weeks and I'll bring it up with my mechanic. I'll post his thoughts then.
