It has been hidden for some years. I met the young owner who inherited it from his dad late last year. He also has a '52 2-piece motor but wanted to get the 'bent window' running. It may need restoration and engine re-assembly but as rare as ... in Australia.Last edited by Merv; 14-03-18, 07:28 AM.

Merv,
Yes, bought her after flying up to have a look. Originally spain delivered, 5401 Black 1955 Pre A bent screen.Imported to Australia in 2011 from Arizona, A non driver with the wrong engine/box.
Plan is to get her on the road and use her as is for the time being. Long term try and source period correct engine /box and do a full resto. IMG_1855.jpgIMG_1850.jpgIMG_1819.jpgIMG_1854.jpgIMG_1691.JPGIMG_1852.jpgJohn Orchard

Lovely car John. Well done. The body looks superb. I spoke to Greg about the car about 6 months ago after meeting the young owner at a car show here. The young guy hadn't the expertise or cash to get it together. He did have a 52 two piece motor he said. Did you get that as well? These old cars are beautiful things.
i see Geoff Starkey’s car in the next issue of Classic Porsche http://www.classicporschemag.co.uk/w...sche-magazine/

Good luck with it John. Please keep us posted as you move along with this lovely car.
I was going back through my notes from 2009 and I have a record of a discussion with a an old rather cantankerous guy in another town not that far from where this one came from. Old guy was 'restoring' a Pre-A and had another one he was using as a 'donor' for it. That seems rot predate yours in Australia at least. Strange.Last edited by Merv; 15-03-18, 08:49 AM.
