Here is a YouTube link to a 1 hr walk thru (Part 1) of this years show. Unfortunatly the creator is not a Porsche fan, which h admits, but it gives you a good idea of the vastness of the show and cars on display. You really need 3-4 days to see it all properly.
From my previous show experiences, the displays were not as jammed with cars this year as many of the displays are car dealers actually selling those cars on display at the show. This Part 1 video doesnt show the outdie areas that Craig alluded to where private sellers park their cars with For Sale signs and price details and usually a mobile number. Seraching YouTube for "Techno Classica 2024 will reveal a lot more videos as the show is still currently on.
Here are some pics from 2016 which show wall-to-wall cars in some dealer stands. Compare it to the latest video where cars are more spread out.

Hi Craig,
glad you got to tick this bucket list item off. It is indeed a great classic car show but I agree the dealers are asking drug money for early 901 cars which arent that wonderful when you look close. Its a show I have visited 7 times as it used to coincide with a trade show in Amerdam that I regularly attended. Just a short 2.5 hr train trip across to Essen.
If you are a model collector, you can definintely load up on the excess luggage if you arent disciplined. I see you added a few pics of some of the model dealers displays. I you are super serious, you can pay extra to get in on the wednesday (Press day) and troll thru the parts tables. I have seen some guys pushing a hand trolley around collecting stuff like Fuchs rim and engine cases.
Are you also visiting other Porsche locations like the facories or Museum ? If you are in stuttgart, dont miss the Mercedes Museum too.Last edited by e72phil; 07-04-24, 02:14 PM.

Greetings from Techno Classica in Essen, Germany.
One of my bucket list Porsche boxes to tick and mid way thru a European holiday the dates aligned, so my long suffering wife and I spent
2 days grinding our way around this massive exhibition. Our tips, book accommodation early ( thanks Clyde), go early ( Thursday/ Friday),
wear comfortable shoes ( the floor in the halls is unbelievably hard ). Crowds are massive, prices are massive ( if you do the conversion),
beer consumption is massive . There are many truly exceptional cars both Porsche and other marques but with my particular interest
in the pre ‘73 Porsche I was a bit underwhelmed. The lesser dealers had mediocre offerings of early cars and frankly absurd prices considering
the lack of detail for some of the cars. The high end dealers had some interesting offerings but few standout cars, the ‘72 T with RS MFI was a lovely car
but 225k euro, anything half decent, matching number was north of 200k euro. The best early car was out the back in the private parking/ sale area
and there was a scrum around it… ‘68S matchy matchy in Irish Green, just beautiful, 275k euro. There were no goldmines of nos parts and most of
the repro part/ automobilia is stuff readily available online. Stand out porsche for Kerrie and I was the 4 cam speedster, 800k euro, stunning little car.
Am I glad I went, absolutely IMG_3697.jpg IMG_3704.jpg IMG_3705.jpg IMG_3707.jpg IMG_3696.jpg , would I go again, probably not.Last edited by epilot; 06-04-24, 06:29 AM.

Great couple of days at SMSP for HSRCA's Summer Festival.
Andrew Begg had his '69 E out in Group S and I managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in Regularity
Shared the garage space with some interesting reps, 206 and 330 Ferrari's and the first GT40D imported for South Africa.
The little Alfa is a genuine GTa Autodelta car with significant ATCC history

What was the old advertising slogan " Kills Bugs fast....."?
I know about the bugs - I drove Carrera 3 back to Melbourne weekend before last , and then washed them off this last Saturday.
I can recommend Bowden's Own Bugger Off.

my car is 51.
Finally got to take this the other day without the chep pallet that is always leaning up against the wall (wanted to move it out way for ages but didn't want to look like a porsche puller)

Took the twins out to celebrate their 50th birthdays ...
Newcastle to Galston Gorge to The Putty Road to Muswellbrook, then Bathurst via The Bylong Valley Way on to
Katoomba, Bells Line of Road down the mountain and home.
Managed to skittle a roo out the back of Taralga, unbelievably little damage.
Otherwise some very tasty roads in good company.
